Wake-up time: Wikepedia criticism, Overstock.com and “Naked Short Selling”
One of the project that I wanted to participate in when I started my new life after a career, was to do some good for society and perhaps become involved in helping out on Wikipedia. This could be a way to Give Back to society…
Thus, I started to research details into Wikipedia… Fortunately or unfortunately, I started to run across a lot of “Negatives” about Wikipedia, which I was not expecting! Wow! I could not believe it! Best place to start is The Wikipedia Review. This is fascinating stuff! All I can add is that all these events and going-ons would make a great Sociology Thesis for someone!
One of the particular story that I side stepped into was the story about overstock.com, Patrick Byrne, Judd Bagley and the “Naked Short Selling” stories that got completely out of hand on Wikipedia… This is stuff for Spy Novels and beats Reality TV hands down any day. The best place to start this side story is at Deep Capture where the CEO (Patrick Byrne) of a company (overstock.com) that was being attacked from Wall Street, with intent to destroy through the now questionable “Naked Short Selling” method, is fighting these guys back…. Absorbing!
This is better than any Tom Clancy’s novel… Take my word… You won’t be able to put this book down!
