ACTA, IP & a couple more sites worth watching.

With the summer just around the corner, time is zipping by quite fast these days.

That said, I noticed that there is a lot of Intellectual Property activities going on. Canada, as you may well know, is a really bad guy when it comes to piracy stuff, according to all the **AA. Now, it was leaked that the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) has been working in the background behind closed doors to come up with the most draconian measures about how the Entertainment industry is dealing with the New Digital model…I think the Internet World and the infamous Digital Contents is completely crashing down…

What we have here, folks, is an industry that missed the boat in the “Internet/Digital World” and are now doing all they can to survive… including completely ignoring not only people’s rights, but countries rights as well. This is completely ludicrous… All it does for me is to forever boycott this industry…

Reading all about this just makes me say: “Stop the train, I’m jumping off”. The world is turning absolutely insane… As I read somewhere:“The world took a wrong turn somewhere…”. The route that the U.S. Entertainment industry has taken is beyond belief. Being a Canadian, I just sincerely hope that we will not fall into this hellish world, but I do not trust any of the politicians, either.

Thus the addition of a couple more must read blog sites on the BlogRoll: William Patry’s Copyright Blog and Michael Geist Law Professor, on the battle front of the canadian issues with copyright.

These Intellectual Property issues are not about piracy, but about an industry that wants to collect revenues every time anyone watches or listen to something… Simple as that. The ultimate environment is that ALL entertainment venues will be on-line activities only, yes, media players will have to have an internet connection so that whatever you listen to or watch will be on a Pay Per Listen or View (PPL/V). The Entertainment industry wet dream is a “chip” in your mind that will PPL/V on anything you see and listen. Your hear a song from the radio? PPL, walking in a mall and some music is playing? PPL! watching some crummy and ugly looking video on YouTube? PPV!. The whole world will be much, much worse than George Orwell’s “1984”. It is getting insane…I just hope the hell I’m dead by then…

Sorry about the rant, but are seeing a replay of the American “Boston Tea Party which led to the American Revolution? Ah! how fast we forget and repeat the same mistakes…

Regards…
